Tembea Na Mimi (Walk With Me) - October 2026!
A Safari Like No Other
Tembea Na Mimi (Walk With Me) is a semi-annual walk across Kenya’s Rift Valley to Lalmba’s project in Matoso, Kenya, on the shores of Lake Victoria.
This is an adventure of a lifetime - 10 days, 260 kilometers, 10 guides, and 22 camels! All on foot!
That’s right, we’re not in vehicles like a regular safari, we are walking alongside some of the most magnificent wildlife in the world (first 5 days) and getting an in-depth chance to meet those that live in the communities, villages and towns along the way (last 5 days).
If you are looking for adventure, join us as we spend eleven days together, walking through some of the most beautiful country in the world. We will be surrounded by abundant wildlife and magnificent views as we traverse the Masai Mara Conservancies and through rural Kenyan villages learning about life in this remote area, equally as awe-inspiring.
Guiding us on the walk is Bobong Camels who will be our hosts for this amazing adventure who will share their culture and knowledge to truly make this an outstanding experience - oh, and the camels are lots of fun too!!! Walkers are responsible for their own travel and safari costs, all donations will go directly to supporting Lamba's student bursary/scholarship program.
Cost: As we are a non-profit organization all costs of the walk are the responsibility of the walker. We anticipate the walk in 2026 to cost each walker approximately $6500 CDN. This includes airport transfers in Kenya, travel to basecamp including lunch enroute, direct cost of the safari which includes the camels who will carry your gear, drovers who will guide us throughout the journey sharing their knowledge and culture while keeping us well fed, watered, and safe, all food and drinks (including limited alcoholic beverages, coffee, tea, soda) for all twelve days on safari (includes the first day at basecamp as well as one day which we plan on spending as a rest day at one of the most beautiful camps along the way situated on the Mara River), emergency evacuation insurance (in addition to your own travel insurance), hotel once you arrive in Matoso for up to three nights, and all meals and drinks (excluding alcohol) while in Matoso.
Each walker is responsible for their own return airfare, payment of the hotel in Nairobi (prior to leaving for basecamp), supplying their own gear for camping and walking, required vaccination and medications, souvenirs/personal items along the way, and tips.
We will be arriving at basecamp on October 24, 2026 arriving at our project in Matoso on November 4, 2026. Some walkers decide to spend extra time exploring other parts of Kenya or other countries in Africa after the walk too.
This walk has changed our lives. We hope you will join us in October 2026.
