Kelly Edwards

Hello my name is Kelly Edwards. This will be my first Tembea Na Mimi. I have watched Bev and Kathy for a few years now and their enthusiasm and commitment is contagious! The Maasai Mara has been on my bucket list since I was a child. I can't wait to see the animals, birds, plants and of course the rocks. Who wouldn't be interested in the rock formations of a rift valley? I hope to learn a few words of Kiswahili (Swahili) so that when I meet people along the way and the students in Matoso, I can greet them appropriately! Making the trip on foot will make it all the more memorable. While I am a bit worried about the heat in Kenya, I am looking forward to not wearing so many jackets (compared to my photo)!
Recently, my perspective on travel has been changing. I really want to give back to the people and the places where they live. Sure, I can and will spend my tourist dollars, but the idea of also assisting with the education of their young people makes it more meaningful to me. My hope is that it makes it more meaningful for them as well.
Thanks for supporting me, the students and the village!
